Damage Assessment


The process of assessing the financial / non-financial damage following a disaster. It usually refers to the assessment of damage to physical assets e.g. vital records, buildings, sites, technology to determine what can be salvaged or restored and what must be replaced. (BCI)


The process of assessing damage following a disaster to computer hardware, vital records, office facilities, etc and determining what can be salvaged or restored and must be replaced. (DRII)


The process used to appraise or determine the number of injuries and human loss, damage to public and private property, and the status of key facilities and services resulting from a natural or human-caused disaster or emergency.
